- For short-term rentals an application fee is due every two years ($100 for personal owner-occupied rentals and $300 for investor owned rentals)
- 📆 The Village Clerk will call you to schedule an inspection
- ✅ Once inspection is passed, your final permit will be issued with the occupancy load
- 🏡 Once permit is received, you’re good to rent
🕒 Renewals are due every 2 years — you must call to schedule re-inspection.
🏠 Short-Term Rentals (STRs)
STRs are defined as rentals with terms under 30 days. Two categories:
👨👩👧 Owner-Occupied STR
- Must be the owner’s primary residence (live there at least 6 months/year)
- Allowed anywhere in the Village
- Requires Principal Residence Exemption
- 💵 $100 application fee every 2 years
🏢 Investor-Owned STR
- Owner does not reside at the property half the year
- Allowed in C1 & C2 commercial zones (non-conforming dwellings)
- No Principle Residence Exemption = considered investor-owned
- 💵 $300 application fee every 2 years
The Good Neighbor Guide must be placed in every short-term rental. It includes reminders about quiet hours (10 p.m. to 8 a.m.), proper trash and recycling use, off-street parking requirements, fire pit safety (wood only), and respecting occupancy limits. It’s a simple way to help guests be considerate of full-time residents and enjoy their stay in the Village.
🔄 Expiration & Renewal
- Certificates of Compliance are valid for 2 years
- Renewal must be scheduled at least 30 days before expiration
- The new certificate keeps the same month/day as the original, even if reissued later
